Screenwriter's Checklist    

Before you send your baby into the cold light of the industry, here’s some free advice to help make sure you’re both ready:

1. Is my screenplay in proper format?
2. Does my protagonist have strong, clear goals and motivations?
3. Does every scene build and turn on a dramatic beat?
4. Does every act build to a satisfying climax?
5. Does my ending answer the central dramatic question of the film?
6. Does every scene crackle with conflict?
7. Have I tested my protagonist to the limits of his or her character?
8. Is my dialogue loaded with subtext and meaning?
9. Do my supporting characters have their own voices and motivations?
10. Does my story provide a reader with insight into my characters and their world?
