Who is Chris Roberts? I am a screenwriter working in Toronto, Canada, the center of the Canadian film industry and the second largest film community in the world. I have been working in the industry and studying film and storytelling for the past eight years. I have worked in almost every aspect of film production, from directing to film editing, but I have found that writing, from the inspiration to the final draft, is for me the most exciting and rewarding part of the process. I have a deep respect and love for storytelling and I admire all who pursue this demanding art-form. I enjoy working with other writers and I find the creative process wonderfully exciting. What are my credentials? I have worked in development for many production companies and agencies in Toronto and Los Angeles. As a story editor, I have helped refine story on many projects which have gone into production. I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting from York University in Toronto. In June of 2008 I was selected to participate in the Praxis story editing workshop, one of only four people admitted nationwide. Any other accomplishments? I am currently writing the true-story feature Way of Survival for Lumanity Productions in Toronto. I am also developing the series Wannabe for Sahara Film Works. In 2008 I placed 2nd (out of 650 entrants) in the NYC Midnight 24-hour writing competition. In 2005 I won the NSI ZeD Drama Prize for my short film, The Meaning of Max. In 2003 I won the Shorties Film Festival Best Narrative Film Award for my short, Visitation Rights.
